“As a result of my USM education, I left a job that was no longer fulfilling and launched a new career. My business is called Baba Blankets Collective. It is designed to provide creative development opportunities for the local women as well as provide sustainable income. We also work with a program called SISTA (Stay In School Tuition Assistance) to help girls in Ghana remain in school. USM supported me in getting laser clear about what my heartfelt dreams were -- what success and joy would look and feel like for me. The Collective has tripled in size in only one year! The skills I learned at USM have changed my life. I now see how the small steps add up. I have set up a new life, which is so fulfilling and gives back to me in more ways than one.” (

“My Second Year Project was called Knitting Peace, and it represented a career change for me. My intention was to design my own line of hand-knit accessories. My project also supported me in being of service, because I wanted these designs to be made by incarcerated women in Bolivia where I was born. Most of my knitters are living in jail with their children. This work gives these women opportunities for poverty alleviation and self-empowerment. USM's curriculum gave me permission to pursue this adventure. Before I knew it, I had quit my corporate job and bought a plane ticket to Bolivia. My USM education gave me the inner knowing that I was fully supported and worthy of co-creating my heartfelt dreams with Spirit. The feeling inside the jail is not one of doom or gloom -- it's joyful, and I love my time there. The women have spirit and work hard to support their children, regardless of how long their sentence is. They use most of the money they earn to support their children in going to school so they can have a better future. It's deeply inspiring.” (
