Patric Peake joined the USM adjunct faculty in 2005 and served as a Project Report Reader in the Second Year class. He has also served as a Reader Leader, a facilitator in the Research and Statistics class for Relationship Projects, an Assistant, and a Reader for many years.
Credentialed as a school counselor and school administrator, he recently retired from nearly thirty years as a school principal in California, leading both in a high school for at-risk teens, and then at an elementary school. He has written eight middle grade novels and intends to publish some of these in the next three years.
Patric received a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Santa Monica in the second graduating class. He completed a Master of Arts degree in school counseling from Highlands University of New Mexico. In addition, Patric has been trained in the Ira Progoff journal-writing workshop and is a national trainer in the Human Development Program and the Parent Effectiveness Program. He has also published a manual on journal-writing topics.
Patric has delivered workshops in dropout prevention, self-esteem, team building, and grief counseling in schools throughout California, Iowa, New Mexico, Mexico, and Aruba. His continuation high school in Calexico, California, was honored as the top continuation school in the state in 1983. In 2009 and 2010, he won the Ventura County Toastmasters International Speech Contest for his speaking and story-telling. His most prized awards, however, are the two he received from the University of Santa Monica, "Alumni of the Year" in 1990 and "Angel of the Year" in 2003.
Patric is blessed with a beautiful family. In Ojai, California, his wife, Margaret, teaches elementary school; his son, Robert, is the chief technical officer of David Allen Company; and his daughter-in-law, Valerie, teaches piano and life coaching. In Santa Monica, his daughter, Lisa, works for a health care practitioner and is a productivity coach for several companies. Pat's son, Jeff, teaches in a Waldorf School in New York. Margaret, Valerie, and Lisa are all University of Santa Monica graduates!
