USM Acknowledges
and Celebrates the Volunteers
of 2009-10!
The Holiday Season is a special time of year for families to gather and celebrate the blessings of the year. During the December class weekends, the University acknowledged and celebrated a vital part of the USM Family -- our amazing volunteer community! With the addition of the CHH class this year, we now have over 200 volunteers coming each month to support the University with their heartfelt service.
The joyful celebrations were held each Saturday in the downstairs classroom. As the volunteer Assistants and Readers entered the room, they were greeted by beautiful holiday decorations of red and white poinsettias, the warm glow of twinkling lights, and festive holiday music. A traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings was served and the delicious meal was topped off with yummy chocolate chip mint cake and pumpkin pie! Underneath the Christmas tree was a gift for each volunteer from the University as an expression of love and appreciation for their wonderful service this year. A special team of Luncheon Angels delivered the gifts to each volunteer, and laughter and joy was present as everyone marveled at the lovely USM-embossed cloisonné bookmarks they received.
After the gifts were opened, USM's Chief Academic Officer, Mary Hulnick, spoke to the group and expressed her deep appreciation for the level of support the Assistants and Readers have shown at this time of Ron's healing and Mary's assuming the key facilitation of the classes. She revealed: "I am so touched by the level of Light support each of you has provided to me and the rest of the USM Faculty in the classes. You have created a truly safe and loving environment for the students to go to deeper levels in their healing work." Mary acknowledged that this quality of service consciousness is truly supportive of the University as it moves into the New Year.
Daniel Eldredge, Reading Program Director and Vice President of Education, added to the message of gratitude by sharing that the loving battery of energy created here by the volunteers flows out into the greater community and supports the lifting of consciousness on the planet. He concluded by paraphrasing a quote from Dr. Ron Hulnick: "When one person raises their consciousness, they lift up all of those around them."
The Director of Volunteer Resources Jane Tucker expressed heartfelt appreciation to the volunteers for the level of willingness, generosity, enthusiasm, and loving commitment that each individual brings in their service to the University month after month and year after year.
To all of our Volunteers, we thank you for continuing to serve! You are a special part the USM family, and we are truly blessed to be sharing in this work with each of you. Happy Holidays!
