Dr. Linda Whitaker has served as an adjunct faculty member of the University of Santa Monica since 1983 and as a full faculty member since the beginning of the Counseling Psychology Program in 1992. Since this time, she has participated in the design and co-facilitation of four Counseling Psychology courses: Values, Laws, and Ethics for the Professional Counselor, Counseling Children and Adolescents, Spiritual Psychology and Marriage and Family Counseling, and Spiritual Psychology and Group Process.
In her practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California, Linda has counseled couples, individual adults, children, adolescents, and families, assisting them in creating more positive and uplifting life experiences. She specializes in healing the inner (and outer) child, teaching healthy parenting and enhancing couples’ communication.
As a consultant both in education and business, Dr. Whitaker has worked with crisis intervention and stress management with Lockheed/Martin and with teachers in the Palmdale School District to promote positive self-esteem in the classroom. She has also been an EAP evaluator with Value Behavioral Health, Blue Cross, and National Resource Consultants. As a faculty member at Chapman University, Linda has supervised student teachers in the Palmdale Public School system. Currently, she is also enjoying teaching elementary school in Palmdale, California.
Linda holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the Professional School of Psychological Studies, a M.Ed. in Organization and Human Resource Development from the University of Vermont, and an M.A. in Applied Psychology from the University of Santa Monica and a Master of Spiritual Science Degree from the Peace Theological Seminary. She is a Clinical Member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Linda lives in Leona Valley with her husband, John. Their 21 year-old son, David, is a Junior at UC Berkeley.
