Loyalty To Your Soul

Dr. Marie Beech-Harnishfeger is currently serving as a member of the faculty of the University of Santa Monica. She has taught in the Counseling Psychology Program and as a Faculty Project Report Reader in the Second Year class.  She has served as a Faculty Reader Leader in both the First and Second Year classes.

Marie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Cross-Cultural Anthropology from California State University at Dominguez Hills.  She received her Master's degree from the University of Santa Monica in Applied Psychology and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ryokan College.

Dr. Beech-Harnishfeger has extensive experience in the field of early childhood development.  In 1985, she opened and operated a therapeutic pre-school to assist children with developmental delays. The focus of her program was to use behavioral interventions to address individual needs in a safe, structured environment.  Her school was in operation for over ten years.

Marie's pre- and post-Doctoral internship hours were spent as part of a multi- disciplinary treatment team providing both inpatient and outpatient therapy to the geriatric population.

Dr. Beech-Harnishfeger worked for ten years as a licensed clinical Psychologist for the County of Orange Health Care Agency in Probation. She was working with adolescent females that had multiple arrests and a duel diagnosis.  Dr. Beech-Harnishfeger was also the over site director of a state-mandated medical funded program from 2000-2004.  This program addressed the mental health issues of SED children and adolescents that have had multiple hospitalizations. 

Currently Dr. Beech Harnishfeger has a private practice in Long Beach, California and is supervising graduate interns from USM's Counseling Psychology Program.

Dr. Beech-Harnishfeger is a member of the American Psychological Association, California Psychological Association, California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists, Phi Kappa Phi National Honors Society, and Project Self-Esteem.

Marie lives in Long Beach, California, with her husband Bruce and their daughter Jazmine.
